DR. TWIN GREEN EMERGES AS A LEADING FORCE IN MENTAL HEALTH ACROSS THE CHICAGOLAND AREA AND THE SOUTH SUBURBAN REGION, DRIVING LASTING CHANGE WITHIN COOK COUNTY

NEW $1.8 MILLION MOBILE MENTAL HEALTH UNIT SET TO TRANSFORM CRISIS RESPONSE AND COMMUNITY CARE

“FROM MY EARLY CAREER DAYS AS AN AFTER-SCHOOL FACILITATOR TO THREE DECADES LATER, MY JOURNEY HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT RESHAPING ACCESS TO CARE FOR THE COMMUNITIES THAT NEED IT MOST.”

(Chicago, IL) In a region where access to quality mental health care remains a growing concern, Dr. Twin Green has emerged as one of the most impactful and transformative voices in behavioral health across Chicagoland and the South Suburbs. With more than three decades of service, Dr. Green’s journey is rooted not only in professional excellence but in lived experience, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to community healing. Her path into mental health began not in a boardroom, but at home.

Following a deeply personal family transition, that experience, paired with a discouraging encounter within the traditional counseling system, became the catalyst for change. Determined to create better pathways for families like her own, she made the bold decision to leave corporate America to build something greater. Without formal training in nonprofit development, Dr. Green taught herself how to write grants, an effort that would prove pivotal in launching her early initiatives. Through persistence and purpose, she secured funding that led to the creation of a transformative after-school program in the South Suburbs.

For ten consecutive years, the program served approximately 100 children annually, becoming a safe haven where youth could openly share their struggles, experiences, and emotional challenges. It was in these moments, listening to children bravely speak their truths, that Dr. Green recognized the urgent need for deeper, more structured mental health support.

“Some of the most defining moments of my career in this line of work came when the students in my after-school program began to trust me enough to share their life experiences and troubles. I would hear stories of pain, confusion, instability, and things no child should have to carry alone. I remember listening and realizing that what they needed went far beyond an after-school program. In those moments, I felt it deeply in my spirit to figure out how to offer more. That was the turning point for me, where this work became not just a program, but a purpose,” said Dr. Green.

That realization propelled her to expand her expertise, pursuing advanced training in substance use and addiction, along with comprehensive mental health services, laying the foundation for what would become a robust, community-centered care model. Today, Dr. Green stands among an elite group of leaders, as her organization has been recognized as one of the first Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) in Illinois, an achievement that ensures care is accessible regardless of income, insurance status, or background.

Continuing her mission to meet people where they are, Dr. Green is preparing to launch a groundbreaking $1.8 million mobile health clinic, scheduled for delivery in late May. This state-of-the-art mobile unit will serve 38 communities throughout the South Suburban region, delivering a comprehensive range of services, including: Mental health treatment, Crisis response services, Maternal health care, and Primary care coordination. Operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the unit will be staffed with two mobile crisis team members per shift, ensuring immediate, on-the-ground support for individuals in need. By providing timely, compassionate intervention, the unit is expected to reduce emergency room strain, improve crisis outcomes, and strengthen trust between communities and care providers.

Dr. Green’s vision extends far beyond a single initiative. Her long-term goal is to replicate and expand the mobile clinic model, ensuring that accessible, high-quality mental health care becomes the standard rather than the exception.
